What Is Myelopathy?

Myelopathy refers to a neurological condition caused by compression or damage to the spinal cord, which disrupts communication between the brain and the body. It can result in pain, weakness, numbness, and difficulty with coordination or movement.

Types of Myelopathy

  1. Cervical Myelopathy (neck region)

    • Most common type
    • Symptoms: neck pain, hand clumsiness, difficulty walking, numbness in arms
  2. Thoracic Myelopathy (mid-back)

    • Symptoms: leg weakness, coordination issues, difficulty walking
  3. Lumbar Myelopathy (lower back)

    • Rare
