Ulnar release

What it is:

What it is:

Ulnar nerve release also known as cubital tunnel release is a surgical procedure that relieves pressure on the ulnar nerve at the elbow, often caused by cubital tunnel syndrome, which can result in pain, numbness, and weakness in the hand and fingers.

Symptoms:

Include tingling or numbness in the ring and little fingers, hand weakness, pain in the elbow or forearm, and difficulty with fine motor tasks. These symptoms often worsen when the elbow is bent for prolonged periods.

Treatment:

Involves surgically decompressing the ulnar nerve by cutting tight tissue or relocating the nerve to a less compressed position. The procedure is typically outpatient, performed under local or general anesthesia, and recovery may take several weeks to months depending on severity and surgical technique used.
